The First Opcellog (portmanteau of Operation Cell-Prog) was a major campaign mounted by the Chromatic Empire and allied factions against Cell Lattice and the people supporting it on Canvas 58. It was made up of attacks on the Pxls.space canvas and diplomatic negotiations with Cell Lattice and other factions.

Background

Casus belli

The reasons for the First Opcellog were described as follows:

  1. The presence of banned leaders within Cell Lattice
  2. Violation of the peace conditions of the C54 dispute with Cells

The aims of the Opcellog were stated to be reversing the above two facts.

Organization of the attack

The original plan for the First Opcellog was extremely ambitious. It aimed to target Cell Lattice and Proggity Prog OwO. Ultimately however, only Cell Lattice had territory to be attacked in the first place. In this original scheme, the Chromatic Empire (along with its vassals, then simply called "principalities" regardless of type), the Trollge Confederacy, and Lunes, would provide the bulk of forces against Cells. This attacking core would then attempt to bring Teal Kingdom, When The Red The Red, the Galld faction and Pepega Confederacy into the fold. The Navy Blue Grand Monarchy's Strategic Assault Forces (including the Eastside Legal Team and High Church of Liam), the Trollge Auxiliary (including PokePxls and the United Pxls Church), as well as Grief Gang, would simultaneously attack Proggity Prog OwO. League of Factions members were also intended to be called upon if defense was necessary. This original plan was revised significantly, most notably with the inclusion of Gura's Supermarket, Femboy Café, and x190, and exclusion of the non-Cell raid targets.

Order of battle

Chromatic Empire

The Chromatic Empire and its Imperial Subjects (the Navy Blue Grand Monarchy, The Purple Empire, Orange Gang and Green Gang) were major belligerents of the Opcellog. In addition, the Principality of Bahamaland reinforced the Chromatic Empire during the Opcellog. They were joined by a coalition of factions that included the Trollge Confederacy, Eastside Legal Team, Gura's Supermarket, Femboy Café, The Galactic Republic, x190, Lunes, Teal Kingdom and MPSZ — in addition to volunteers.

Timeline

Initial invasion

The invasion began at 2:00pm EST on June 25th, 2022. The bulk of the attacking forces were concentrated on the NBGM partition as that was the section of the Opcellog covering the Cell Lattice anniversary template. The anniversary template was predicted to meet the heaviest resistance, so it was attacked first.

At the same time, Gura's Supermarket pushed through their previous borders with Cell Lattice and occupied new positions deeper into Cell territory.

The Opcellog made huge progress, with around 10,000 pixels being placed in the first six hours. The attackers soon came to massively outnumber the defenders in a 74 to 5 battle, despite attempts to recruit users from a Pxls clone to defend Cell Lattice. All meaningful resistance on the canvas came to an end in the first hour of the conflict. Negotiations were opened up to create a new diplomatic climate that would ensure another raid on Cells would not be necessary in the future.

Aftermath

Coalition of the First Opcellog

The Coalition of the First Opcellog refers to non-Imperial Estates that supported the First Opcellog due to Imperial diplomacy. Many of them were allies of the Chromatic Empire, but some were only one-time partners.

Composition

Trollge Confederacy

Since the Cell War of Canvas 54, the Chromatic Empire and Trollge Confederacy had been closely aligned. They were both members of a major organizational body of the First Opcellog. However, they had been diminished since the Cell War, and only 2 members of the Confederacy are confirmed to have participated in the First Opcellog.

Gura's Supermarket and Idle Slayer

pineApple offered Gura's Supermarket some of Cell Lattice's territory before the Cell War of Canvas 54, leading to military cooperation between the two factions. A similar offer was made in the prelude to the First Opcellog. As a result, the faction's leader Gaudi999 and several other high-ranking members of the faction, including two originating from the Idle Slayer community, supported the Opcellog.

Femboy Café

Layla, then-leader of the Femboy Café, brought the faction into the Opcellog, and several members participated in the fighting.

The Galactic Republic

pineApple brought The Galactic Republic into the war after forming close ties to them in the wake of the Star War.

x190

The First Opcellog signalled the escalation of cooperation between the Chromatic Empire and x190, which would reach its peak during the Crucible War, decline during the Knight War and stabilize on Canvas 65.

Teal Kingdom

Teal Kingdom would later swear fealty to the Chromatic Empire as an Imperial Subject.

MPSZ

The Hungarian Pixelplacing Alliance, Magyar Pixelrakó Szövetség (MPSZ), an ally of the Chromatic Empire, fought in the First Opcellog and contributed several members.

Lunes

Lunes cooperated widely with the Empire on anti-Cell measures, culminating in the creation of the COTA alliance.
