Art

I've created many art pieces for the ManePxls faction which you can see on the ManePxls wiki page. (Tip: You can use Ctrl+F and search for "TheWaffleLord" to see which canvases I made art on.)

The other art pieces I've made can be found in the history section below.

History

Discovering Pxls

I first found out about Pxls very shortly after I first learned about r/place when I watched this video made by LittleshyFiM showcasing what the brony community built on r/place.

I was disappointed that I wasn't able to take part in the event, so I went looking for clones of r/place and stumbled upon pxls.space.

Canvas 10

The first thing I did after creating a Pxls account was visit the Pxls subreddit and came across a post made by someone wanting to start a void in the bottom left on the canvas, which I helped by placing about 20 pixels before moving on. I then helped make grylical's checkerboard pattern which later got destroyed. After that, I helped with various projects until the canvas reset.

Nearing the end of the canvas, I helped some bronies in the Pxls Discord build the word "HORSES" on the large art piece commemorating The New Pixel Axis at the bottom of the canvas.

Canvas 11

Shortly before the canvas reset, I looked through various messages in the #plans channel in the Pxls Discord to find a project I could help with once canvas 11 began. I narrowed it down to two choices: Doki Doki Pxls Club or Team PXLS. I ended up choosing Team PXLS and helped make their art during canvas 11.

Midway through the canvas, I joined the ManePxls Discord server and helped them make their art and lattice until the end of the canvas.

From this point onward I would continue to help ManePxls and Team PXLS make their art on every canvas they were active on.

On 2018/05/20 (19 days after the start of the canvas) I was promoted to moderator in the Team PXLS faction.

Canvas 13

This canvas was the first time I built something of my own on Pxls, an ego in the shape of a waffle.

Canvas 14

I built my first solo art piece, the :rooHappy: emote from the Twitch streamer AdmiralBahroo.

I began assisting squiddies in making many updates to the global template which was previously only handled by him. I would continue to make updates to the global until canvas 50 where I finally got burnt out from making them. Global templates were replaced by Clueless shortly afterward anyways.

Sometime during the canvas, a user used pxlsFiddle's lattice detector feature, looked at the :rooHappy: emote on the canvas, and found that the way the art was designed caused it to look a bit creepy on the lattice detector. Pairing that with another user's art just above :rooHappy: of a sign with the text "death", it made for a slightly horrifying amusing combo.

Canvas 15

As part of a group art project done by ManePxls, my pony OC was built on the canvas alongside the pony OCs of many other ManePxls members.

On 2018/09/06 I was promoted to moderator in the ManePxls faction.

Canvas 16

I did some touchups (and in retrospect, a few touchdowns) to art made by the Team PXLS faction.

Canvas 17

I participated in the Attack on the Yoba Suit during the Second 2ch Invasion.

Canvas 20

On 2019/01/11 I was promoted to administrator in the ManePxls faction.

Canvas 21

I built the :rooAwwt: emote from the Twitch streamer AdmiralBahroo.

Canvas 22 and Canvas 23

I defiddled some art for Hoppy Vault.

Canvas 26

On 2019/09/06 I was promoted to leader of the ManePxls faction.

Canvas 30

I made several template updates for The Second Pixel Axis.

Canvas 34

I joined the Housewives.

Canvas 36

I was made an admin of Clueless. This was later removed sometime during my break.

Canvas 37

I defiddled the initial canvas.

Canvas 45 and Canvas 46

During canvas 45 I expressed my dislike of 2ch in a staff channel on the Pxls Discord noting how extremely toxic they had acted, which was leaked by another staff member causing 2ch to attack ManePxls and completely remove their art.

A truce was made between ManePxls and 2ch allowing ManePxls to build their art on canvas 46, under the conditions that I had to apologize to them and make a 2ch themed pony art.

A ponified version of the character "Alisa" from the Everlasting Summer visual novel which is usually depicted as 2ch's mascot.

Canvas 51

I hid small ponies of each of the Mane 6 all around the canvas.

Canvas 52

As part of a group art project done by ManePxls, my pony OC was built on the canvas alongside the pony OCs of many other ManePxls members.

Canvas 53

I defiddled the initial canvas.

Canvas 56

To celebrate ManePxls hitting its 4 year anniversary, a small art piece was made depicting three pony OCs of the two previous owners of ManePxls and myself.

Canvas 56a

I noticed that some other staff members were making some stuff outside of the normally placeable area, so I built a small avocado holding a fiddle in homage to Avogadro and pxlsFiddle using the art made for r/place 2022.

Canvas 58

I defiddled the initial canvas, and added a pixel crumb to the center.

Canvas 60

I designed a small version of Liam's profile pic during the Liamist Revolution.

Canvas 60a, Canvas 64, and sometime after

Due to some drama on canvas 60a and several years of stress without any breaks, I left the Pxls Discord and stopped placing on the canvases.

I did read some messages about things happening on Pxls in the ManePxls Discord for a while which wasn't helping, so sometime during canvas 64 I made an announcement in ManePxls that I'd be stepping down as owner, leaving ownership to the staff members of the server, and muting all the Pxls related channels in the server.

I spent the next roughly 6 months away from Pxls and it was very relieving to not have to worry about anything crazy happening on Pxls.

During my break, I kept an eye on r/place related news since I had joined the r/place Bronies Discord server and they were planning for a possible third r/place.

Excited about the possible upcoming event, I unmuted the Pxls related channels in the ManePxls Discord to see if the faction was discussing anything about it, and I slowly started to get more interest in returning to Pxls as I had missed it.

Once r/place 2023 began I spent many days placing pixels and having a great time. (See LittleshyFiM's video on the event for a lot of info as to what happened.)

After that, I just got back into Pxls more and more, even getting #1 spot of the top placers of the day once shortly after returning.

Canvas 71

I made peeking pony and ponk variants of my pony OC since many other ManePxls members also made art of their OCs on the canvas.

Canvas 73

I revived the Do Push faction.

Canvas 74

After having it in my "planned art" folder for nearly 5 years, I finally got around to making my third and final Roo art. The previous two being on canvas 14 and canvas 21.
As a fun nod to the osuplace faction, I added the text "OSU" to the cookie as a reference to how they sometimes refer to the osu! logo as a "cookie".

Since I was already making an art piece that made me nostalgic for the older days of Pxls, I made an ego as well. The last time having done so on canvas 13.

The :rooFat: emote from the Twitch streamer AdmiralBahroo.

Canvas 75

I made the initial canvas larger.

Canvas 76

As part of a group art project done by ManePxls, my pony OC was built on the canvas alongside the pony OCs of many other ManePxls members.

Canvas 77

As part of a group art project done by ManePxls, my pony OC was built on the canvas alongside the pony OCs of many other ManePxls members.

(All the OCs were in bag form due to the art being a collab between ManePxls and Bag Faction.)

Canvas 78

During the canvas, a ManePxls member built a small piece of art of their pony OC about to enter a nether portal. Several other members (including me) soon after built their OCs in the area as well.
