Canvas 4 - Current

Cell Lattice (CL), often shortened to Cells, is a lattice faction currently owned by M_the_OG (also known as MOG) and one of the oldest and most enduring groups on Pxls.space.

It has had a complex history, with multiple revivals, deaths, server nukes, and more. Most recently, it was destroyed and disbanded as a Pxls faction by the Chromatic Empire during the Second Opcellog. However, it has since been revived once more, through the efforts of user StaelaaOpal and others.

Cell Lattice inspired the creation of Woke Cells, Zimbab Cells, Void Cells, Skinny Cells, and the Archduchies of Bells and New Cells.

Abridged history

Canvas 3

The first cell appeared on Green Lattice.

Canvas 4

The first Cell Lattice server was created on Canvas 4. This canvas was a donut with green sprinkles, and Cell Lattice exploited this through the practice of virgin abuse to expand quickly.

Canvas 6

Nudl, the leader of Cell Lattice, instigated the Cell Lattice-Soul Lattice War, which ended in defeat for the faction.

Somekid joined Pxls on this canvas.

Canvas 13

The original Cell Lattice Discord server was nuked in Haykam's nuking spree, erasing most of the faction's history prior to that point. Faction operations were moved to JadeX's server.

Canvas 15

Super Army of Potatos joined Pxls on this canvas.

Canvas 19

Nudl transferred ownership of Cell Lattice to JadeX on this canvas, including original Cell Lattice Discord server.

Ownership was eventually transferred again, this time to Somekid.

Canvas 24

Cells entered into a war with Tetris Lattice. This war would eventually be resolved diplomatically, with many tertris themed cells being made along the borders

Canvas 34

Cell Lattice had little to no presence on Canvas 34. However, the Discord server was stricken with instability after Somekid (then known as “CellCatKid''), transferred ownership to another user known as Xantic.

Xantic's reign over the faction was described as "brief and brutal," and he presided over the expulsion of many longtime members of Cell Lattice. He also attempted to invade Woke Cells but was roundly defeated. Xantic himself lost the support of the faction, was ousted, and promptly deleted the Cell Lattice Discord server. The faction was, effectively dead.

Canvas 34a

Cell Lattice had a small, loosely organized presence on the bottom left corner of the canvas, primarily made by previous cells member M_the_OG. Despite having only a small amount of territory, Cell Lattice was still one of the more successful lattices on Canvas 34a.

Canvas 35

M_the_OG decided to fully revive Cell Lattice on the canvas. They were eventually attacked by Legion in a punitive operation to retaliate against M_the_OG griefing their art that canvas. During this time Super Army of Potatoes attempted to gain control of the the Original Cell Lattice Discord server to better coordinate there forces against the legion and to further revive the faction, eventually getting SomeKid to transfer the server to him. To avoid a total disaster they agreed to not attack legions small art on the raindrop but was allowed to rebuild the cells around it.

Canvas 36

Canvas 36 marked the re-emergence of Cell Lattice as a major faction. The lattice joined headed coalition and created a united core with the Coalition of Backgrounds, in an effort to revive some pxls factions which consisted of Pxls Roads, Rainbow Road Redux, Cell Lattice, and Green Lattice. Cell Lattice also collaborated with babadrake to create a piece of art. As Cell Lattice grew, they came in contact with Scrappy Pixels and Bahamaland, collaborating with both (though the collab with Scrappy Pixels was significantly larger).

Due the canvas being unusually long, Cell Lattice expanded its “core" and created two colonies: a grey one in collaboration with Nonexistent Canvas, and an unfinished forest green one in collaboration with Pixel Zoo that could not be completed prior to the canvas reset.

Canvas 37

Cell Lattice began this canvas by doing a beach themed core using past cell and creating new ones, half the core would be water(Blue Cells) and the other half would be sand(yellow cells). Once the core was completed they expanded upward until running into the Legion Lattice then moved downward all the way down to BaBa Lattice. After which they attacked a lattice that was on the "flag" of the Sand Castle Canvas completely destroying it under the justification of, "Refusing to let any art be built over it" expanding a colony that was already there, taking over most of the flag.

Following this war they began a colony near Cursed Clan's lattice which, would cause the First Cursed-Cell War

Cell Lattice invaded Cursed Clan's lattice, starting the First Cursed-Cell War. Cells struggled to gain the advantage, but Cursed Clan ultimately conceded a small part of their lattice to end the war.

When Cursed Clan attacked Green Lattice, they lost the community support they had gained during the first war and Cells intervened, starting the Second Cursed-Cell War. Cells decisively defeated Cursed Clan, and continued to destroy their lattice for the rest of the canvas.

Canvas 38

Cells took part in the major New New Pxls Allies collaboration in the center of canvas. The faction was had slowed significantly this canvas, with MOG focusing more on Honey Lattice, Super Army of Potatoes growing bored of pxls, and much effort being expended in finishing the central collaboration, they were a good amount smaller this canvas.

Cells went for a more unique Viral theme this canvas, one of the more artistic themes Cells has had.

Canvas 39

Ownership of the faction would finally be transferred over to MOG right before the canvas began. This canvas would prove to be quite a chaotic one for Cells, as they struggled to find a spot on the smaller canvas dominated by a major collaboration in the center. Halfway through the canvas, ownership would be transferred over to D_Leeo, who would give ownership back to MOG due to general boredom and controversies over custom cells.

Canvas 40

The rivalry between Cell Lattice and Woke Cells came to a head. The so-called fall of Cell Lattice saw Cell Lattice temporarily destroyed by Woke Cells. However, they would eventually be brought back through the efforts of NinjaQwert. NinjaQwert and MOG would eventually come to a sort of co-ownership agreement for the next few canvases.

Canvas 43a

Cell Lattice was initially neutral amid the Legion invasion of Canvas 43a, and working with Inverted Anarchist to attack Polonian Pxls with "Anime Cell Lattice Girl" - a conflict that came to be called the War of the Anti-Youj Coalition.

Later, Legion and their auxiliaries launched an operation to move and completely erase Cell Lattice's core art from the canvas. The only art that remained was the artwork from the Anti-Youj Coalition.

Canvas 44

Because of the invasion from the previous canvas, Legion decided that it would appropriate for Cell Lattice to build close to Legion. Cell Lattice also managed to place a significant amount of its lattice on Canvas 44. It was even considered one of the biggest lattices.

Canvas 45

This canvas benefited Cell Lattice a lot. One of their enemies, Woke Cells, was heavily weakened and this canvas saw Cell Lattice receive more placers and active people.

Canvas 47

This would be MOG's final canvas as the owner of Cell Lattice, as he soon left pxls do to general boredom and disagreements with the direction of the website and staff actions. Ownership would be transferred to StaelaaOpal. Generally, Cells had a quiet and successful canvas, unusual given the chaotic nature of this canvas.

Canvas 54

Griefs and provocations against the Navy Blue Grand Monarchy and Trollge Confederacy spurred a coalition of factions to attack Cell Lattice on Canvas 54, an event simply known as the Cell War. This caused a brief period in which the faction was under the provisional administration of Super Army of Potatos.

Canvas 55

Cell Lattice was in a collab with The Helpers on this canvas. Due to the Place Invasion, the founder of Cell Lattice (Nudl) returned to Pxls and retook control of the faction with Somekid playing a leading role in the faction. Super Army of Potatos went inactive.

Canvas 57

Cell Lattice participated in the Fish Collab on Canvas 57, and was heavily griefed by members of Woke Cells and other detractors of the collab.

Canvas 58

Cell Lattice territory on Canvas 58 shortly before the First Opcellog.

This canvas marked the five year anniversary of Cell Lattice, but it also marked the beginning of the end for the faction. Somekid's faction was largely protected by Fish Collab for the entirety of Canvas 57.

The participation of Cell Lattice members in defending against the Pepe Raid led to the First Opcellog.

The First Opcellog was a large-scale raid led by the Chromatic Empire (which had been formed by the Navy Blue Grand Monarchy and other color-themed factions since the C54 Cell War). It was supported by a large coalition of factions, who disliked Cell Lattice for various reasons.

The raid was a decisive victory for the attackers, who demanded Somekid's ouster as well as co-ownership of Cell Lattice. pineApple and ioanBG became de facto leaders of the faction, though Nudl retained ownership of the Discord server.

Canvas 59

Cell Lattice territory on Canvas 59 shortly before the Second Opcellog.

The Chromatic Imperial administration of Cell Lattice focused on cell-related artwork as opposed to the lattice, which was almost exclusively built by Greenwizard before being boxed in by KRTOG and the neighboring Empire itself.

During this canvas, Nudl unbanned Somekid from the Cell Lattice Discord server and expelled pineApple, ioanBG, and all other users believed to be associated with the Chromatic Empire from the server. This led to the Second Opcellog, which in a matter of hours destroyed all Cell Lattice territory on the canvas and forced the faction's permanent emigration to another /r/place clone.

Interregnum

Cell Lattice continued to exist and operate on this other /r/place clone for some time after its ouster from Pxls.space in the Second Opcellog.

Though the faction had officially disbanded as an organization on Pxls.space, various "cells" continued to be made throughout Canvas 60, which were diligently removed by members of the Chromatic Empire and the community as a whole. "Opcellog" became the standard shorthand term used to refer to an attack against remnants of Cell Lattice or any of its derivatives. Such attacks were launched against volunteer projects, Void Cells, Skinny Cells and Llec Ecittal.

WindySpoon sought to rehabilitate the heavily tarnished reputation of Cell Lattice and re-established it on Canvas 64. The project became known as New Cells. It was attacked by Flandre members in the Second Red Opcellog. Eventually the faction agreed to stop making the lattice and focus exclusively on Cell-themed artwork. On Canvas 67, it officialized already-close ties with the Chromatic Empire by becoming an archduchy (vassal) during its Titular Reform.
