Crimson Dawn was a faction dedicated to making art based around Star Wars and occasionally other misc stuff. Most art in later canvases was made custom, so that it was the highest quality. Founded on canvas 32 by Selio (CP_Pixels at the time), this faction went through lots of change over the canvases.

Crimson Dawn was the spiritual successor to Stem Place as all stem place related things were converted to Crimson Dawn.

Canvas 45 was the last canvas Crimson Dawn was active on.

Context and Origin

Stem Place was a Pxls Clone created by former Pxls mod and developer, Mikarific, for her highschool in October 2019. She amassed a fairly large userbase on the site for one school, peaking at 69 online at once. Mika was responsible for introducing Pxls to members of Stem Place. Initially, not many Stem Place users went to pxls to place, but in Spring 2020 the site went down and was not brought back (for several months.) This caused several prominent Stem Place users to move over to Pxls (C35) and start placing under the leadership of CP_Pixels. Since then, various Stem Place users have maintained a presence on Pxls, even past the death of the original Stem Place website in June 2022.

After introducing Stem Place to Pxls, Mikarific went on to create Pride Faction, become a moderator and pxls developer, and join LOF as a councilor, helping to lead campaigns in various wars. CP_Pixels and Mikarific collaborated frequently between the LOF and helping each other's factions. Following the 2ch Nuke, Mika became the last remaining active Stem Place user on Pxls until May 2024 when she was banned from the community for staff leaks. Around this time, Selio started interacting with the pxls community again; leading them to come back to the site, finding renewed interest after several years away. At the time of writing, a few other stem placers may be returning to the community as well.

History

Canvas 32

this Faction was initially founded this canvas under the name "Stem Place" as a reference to the Pxls clone where most members came from. Not much was made this canvas except for a few pineapples that would be destroyed at the end

Before
After

Canvas 33

This Canvas is when things got rolling. It was a blue area in the top corner of the canvas with not much except some of the members' egos. eventually it was destroyed at the end of the canvas due to one member greifing YOIB

Before
After

Mandrake has since said they do not recall the raid, and regret it happed, but admitted it is definitely the type of thing they would have done while deep under the control of yoib.

Canvas 34

This canvas things would start getting a bit larger with a 6k template of Darth Nihilus from Star Wars. Unfortunately it was downscaled from its original size leaving it fiddled. The faction owner has since said they regret that canvas to this day.

Canvas 35

c35 was the infamous cloud canvas but also the canvas where "Stem Place" really kicked off. The Pxls clone had recently went down for summer and CP_Pixels decided to make a area with small art where stem placers could make art. while not very large this serves as the point where the faction truly began.

Canvas 36

c36 would go on to be the biggest canvas for "Stem Place". at the beginning of the canvas CP_Pixels decided to make the template a astonishing 4x bigger than the pervious canvas. more users would join the faction to assist the template. early in the canvas there was a fairly large overlap with Error Gang that was quickly resolved but caused "Stem Place" to mold into the above area. after finishing earlier than expected a lattice was constructed elsewhere.

Canvas 37

This canvas Stem Place encountered difficulty. The background color was initially going to be dark blue, but was changed after rest upon discovering YOIB was dark blue this canvas. There was also problems with speed, finishing just hours before reset thanks to many users that volunteered their help. Additionally several pierces were originally fiddled on the template and had to be defiddled throughout the canvas.

Canvas 38

A quote from the faction leader, CP_Pixels, "This canvas was my favorite of the stem place templates. It was when it peaked in complexity." Finishing early, Stem Place also constructed a lattice below.

fun fact: this canvas (moon canvas) was made by the Stem Place faction leader, CP_Pixels

Canvas 39

C39 was the last canvas Stem Place used the "mini canvas" formula. To this point there was always a bit of a blue theme, so the faction elected to do a gradient background of two blues, as there were no more left to do a solid background with. This canvas there were several claim issues, with Cirno Embassy and Yoib. This resulted in a very deformed template with overlaps and not much art.

Canvas 40

The final canvas as "Stem Place," this canvas was an interactive event for the Stem Place community. The Stem Place Pxls clone had been down for several months, but Mikarific, CP_Pixels, and DrYamok were working on bringing it back online. To celebrate, an event was held on Pxls where the community had to build a portal back to the site, and it would open when complete. This was accompanied by a downsized version of the Stem Place return canvas (season 7) and many egos of community members

Canvas 41

At this point the faction leader, CP_Pixels, had grown tired of the old faction formula, beginning to view it as low quality. At this point the name Stem Place has somewhat of a negative reputation as well for the same reason. Most active faction members were Star Wars fans, so the decision was made to rebrand to a Star Wars faction and make larger, more complex art. This canvas featured a art of The Mandalorian, in preparation for season 2 of the Star Wars show of the same name.

Around this time The League of Factions was blossoming, and as a prominent leader figure in it, CP_Pixels chose to also include Stem Place in the L.o.F Safezone, meant to bring low factions closer together and make mutual defense easier.

Canvas 42

This canvas featured two main arts and a few random smaller arts.

Canvas 43

Seeking to further improve the faction's reputation and quality, CP_Pixels decided to switch to a formula where the faction would construct one large art, created from scratch. Furthermore, the faction name was changed to "Crimson Dawn" (referencing a faction within Star Wars lore.) The name rebrand was only mildly successful, as many continued to call the faction "Stem Place" for the rest of its lifespan.

This canvas Crimson Dawn constructed a piece of Darth Vader at his castle. The art also includes several references to the Vader Immortal VR game. It was not finished being drawn when the canvas started, so the template was incrementally updated over a couple weeks.

Restructuring and Raids

Along with the name change, Crimson Dawn implemented an operation system to streamline production. The art was finished relatively quickly thanks to the quick placing of the core three members, Pogtato, RC-2222, and CP_Pixels. This allowed Crimson Dawn to conduct fiddle abuse raids in a method taking after YOIB, very much in spite of the faction's past. The first raid was the construction of the small star destroyer above. Later in the canvas, Crimson Dawn also built the Boba Fett helmet below, which was located in legion territory.

Canvas 43a

This canvas was a short gimmick canvas where one of the notable events was Legion carrying out a test to see how much of the canvas they could take over. During this, Crimson Dawn placed a small art on one of their roads, and it was never attacked by Legion.

Canvas 44

C44 was the peak of Crimson Dawn and full of various events and happenings. This canvas a piece based off the Star Wars Clone Wars arc, Siege of Mandalore, was made. Like Vader's castle, the template was still being drawn a couple weeks into the canvas.

Fiddle Abuse Raid

Crimson Dawn carried out a fiddle abuse raid on a art located in 2ch territory. They placed a small art of Wrecker's helmet, from the Bad Batch show.

2ch Threat and Drama

During this canvas, 2ch approached 2 of Crimson Dawn's members about griefs they did, threatening to erase all of the faction's art. Thanks in part to CP_Pixels' and Pogtato's position in YOIB, and promises of reparations, a raid from 2ch was avoided. Along with this, Legion released a statement saying they would protect certain factions from unnecessary 2ch aggression.

Canvas 45

This canvas Crimson Dawn made a medium art of Embo (from The Clone Wars), the faction logo, and a sizable lattice (all custom.)

The End of Crimson Dawn

After c45 there was more art in the works, but it was never made on canvas due in part to time constraints and the intensifying 2ch conflicts. The 3 core placers of Crimson Dawn dedicated their pixels to LOF in the following couple canvases. After the 2ch nuke, CP_Pixels began taking time away from Pxls, as well as RC-2222 and Pogtato. Crimson Dawn has not been active since. CP_Pixels returned to Pxls as Selio on c80, but stated Crimson Dawn is dead, and they were moving on to other projects.
