To thank the osuplace community for their help defending the Pxls community's art on r/place 2022, the osu! logo was chosen as the initial canvas.
The canvas size being 1727x1727 is a reference to the popular WYSI meme in the osu! community.

The size of the canvas was 1727x1727 and 2,343,381 of the 2,982,529 total pixels were placeable. (78.6%) There were also 345 unplaceable colored pixels which can be seen highlighted in red in the placemap image to the right.
