The Anglerfish War was a major war for territory on Canvas 35, caused by a lack of space and multiple factions claiming space on the Simian Sculptors' template.
Timeline
It began when Simian Sculptors found that large portions of their template for the canvas had been covered by VE1L (Veil) claims, and refused to move. This sparked war between VE1L and Simian Sculptors, with Legion (a strong ally of VE1L) arriving as well to back them up. Also involved on VE1L's side was a faction called "онлйнтренер.рф", who had also claimed part of Simian Sculptors' area with a template of Ryan Gosling. Supporting Simian Sculptors was a number of volunteer fighters from a variety of factions.
After several days of nonstop war, the Legion Diplomatic Corps approached Simius (leader of the Sculptors) to negotiate a peace treaty between Legion, VE1L, and Simian Sculptors. During the treaty negotiations, there was a ceasefire between all sides. Eventually the treaty was accepted, and Simian Sculptors moved their template, ending the war for good.
People involved
An estimated 10-12 people formed the Simian Sculptors defending bloc during the war, while the opposing VE1L-Legion alliance was able to match their numbers throughout most of the conflict.
On the VE1L-Legion side
Another Russian faction, "онлйнтренер.рф" was involved in the fighting on the side of the VE1L-Legion side, due to one of their templates being inside the contested area. Various independent griefers also hampered the progress of Simian Sculptors growth during the war, indirectly helping the VE1L-Legion side.
On the Simian Sculptors side
The NCR was also involved in the fighting on the side of the Simian Sculptors, actively helping their progress and aiding Sculptors operations. The Prog War Council movement aided the Sculptors in a similar capacity to the NCR, but less frequently. Nutya also frequently griefed Legion's main template (Caesar) during the war; whether they did so to directly help the Simian Sculptors is unclear.
Notable figures
- Simius: Leader of Simian Sculptors
- funta: Leader of VE1L
- Molodoy: Leader of Legion
- Tyto alba: Leader of the Legion Diplomatic Corps. Helped mediate peace negotiations between Simian Sculptors and VE1L.
Aftermath
The Anglerfish War represented a remarkable act of defiance against the territorial dominance exerted by Legion and its alliance with VE1L on Canvas 35. However, Legion's formation of the LDC and diplomatic handling of the conflict improved public opinion of them following the war.
