Talk:Canvas 1

Jump to navigation Jump to search

i've been trying to add the canvas 1 timelapses onto the wiki but ran into a few issues.

-the most annoying one is regarding the full-screen function. in the source code, it's enabled, on the editing page area it's enabled, but it seemingly refuses to open full-screen. on the miku war page, where i snatched the code from, they had it for several things, such as youtube videos and spotify tracks, but even the youtube video could not open full-screen. tried a few things but i think its just a bit broken; either the site or the code.

-for any png's and what-have-you, you can upload the file which makes it much more workable within mediawiki in my opinion. i dont think that videos, or more specifically mp4, are accepted formats. i saw online that wikipedia uses either .webms or .ogg theora formats but super confident in doing so.

-i want to add a border and text beneath the embedded video, such as you would see with the "original canvas" pictures to the right of the wiki page, but the closest i can see is tweaking the html embed code to include a border. this border is alright but is a different style than the png version and you cannot attach text to it.

let me know if anyone has suggestions or fixes :)

fix

I think I found an extension that'll fix that, gonna message [ ] to add it (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:TimedMediaHandler/VideoJS_Player) -waffle

EDIT It's added, gonna see how it works and if it'll fix stuff

EDIT2 Fullscreen functionality added to mp4 files :owoyay:

EDIT3 Fullscreen is broken, trying to get descriptions to work

EDIT4 Well mp4 files on pages can go into fullscreen now, but I can't get the description part working

EDIT5 ok what.

I just copied the formatting from the image embeds for shits and giggles and it actually worked.

Whatever, it works now lmao. Videos have a fullscreen button now, and can have borders/descriptions like images.

(btw, I was shocked that this worked since the info page for the extension we're using to make it work did not mention this at all)
