The first Nuke of 2ch was the nuking (pixel reversion and mass-banning) of 2ch users on Canvas 19. The cited reasons for the action, as described by the Pxls staff, were:

  • multiple collective rule violations
  • ignorance towards community values
  • illegal DDoS attempts
  • an overall toxic community stance towards our website.

The nuke opened up a lot of space on Canvas 19 with the New Year's Yoba project being suddenly erased. Other groups hurried to occupy the space. Some successor factions of surviving 2chers continued operation for many months after the nuke.

The nuke was controversial and became even more so as time went on.
