Campaign

A military conflict infobox may optionally be followed by a campaignbox template, which provides quick navigation among the battles in a campaign, theatre, or war.

An article should generally include only one campaignbox; similarly, battles should not be listed on multiple campaigns. However, certain exceptions to this guideline exist as a matter of convention.

The campaignbox should be included directly after the infobox template:

{{Infobox Military Conflict
...
}}
{{Campaignbox XXXX}}

Multiple campaignboxes may be stacked following the infobox; alternately, they may be included at the beginning of the section that discusses the campaign in question.

If the campaign you need is not listed, you can create a new campaignbox for it. The campaignbox template should be named Template:Campaignbox XXXX, where XXXX is the name of the campaign (or a shortened form, such as "Somme 1916" for the Battle of the Somme).

The new campaignbox should use {{Campaign}}, like this:

{{Campaign
|name=
|battles=
}}
  • namerequired – the name of the campaign or war, which should be linked to an article about the campaign, if one exists. Dates should not be indicated unless needed for clarity.
  • battlesrequired – an en-dash separated list of battles in the campaign. The names of the battles should be abbreviated to keep the box small (e.g. by linking to "Battle of YYYY" as [[Battle of YYYY|YYYY]]).
  • Remember to add the new campaignbox to this list!
