past Canvas

Canvas 15 was originally announced on 2018/08/06 as being 829x1500 pixels, leading to many to claim areas based on a pure rectangle of these dimensions. However, on 2018/08/10, more details were released: "915,459 pixels, all straight edges, all right angles, it's mostly rectangular". Given that 829x1500 pixels yields 1,243,500 pixels, this means that the canvas is likely to be a shape with coordinates on which pixels cannot be placed, like the donut shape of Canvas 4, or the fox shape of Canvas 8. At its launch it was revealed the the canvas depicted a smartphone in portrait orientation, with its bezels and UI elements not available for placing, forcing all art to effectively be built on its screen as part of a painting interface - the first canvas to have that mechanic (previous canvases relied on unplaceable pixels being transparent).
