During [[Canvas 92]], the Sabrina Carpenter bee artwork by sad_bun and Virgu became the target of multiple griefing campaigns. The first griefs began on the 4th of August with [[Arinnnnnnn]], who attempted to place a tree over the artwork in protest of its perceived NSFW nature. He recieved the support of [[Darkhood]], who called in their members to assist with the griefing. These initial griefs were met with heavy resistance from defenders and ultimately failed to make lasting progress.

2 days after Arinnnnnnn began his raids, [[The Arsonists]] launched a larger-scale raid placing fire over the bee. At its peak, this campaign resulted in the loss of approximately 1,400 pixels for the defenders before the raid was repelled and the artwork was restored.

Arinnnnnnn and 3 others, including [[Universe]], continued to grief the Sabrina bee artwork by attempting to place the tree artwork over the course of the 3 days after the Arsonist raid while facing significant resistance from the beekeepers, before the conflict concluded with the tree placers ceasing their griefs on the 9th of August.

==Background==
The Sabrina Carpenter bee artwork was originally [https://x.com/thisislux/status/1934717871000559856?t=RK9KWWn8XRXV0FUgsg-AAg&s=19 created by @thisislux on X (Twitter)], based on Sabrina Carpenter's Rolling Stone cover photoshoot, in which she is nude except for a pair of socks. The artwork was initially placed to match the original art, but following a moderator request due to the original art violating the "No nudity" rule, the art was adjusted to give her clothes while removing her socks.

This modification drew a significant amount of criticism from members of the pxls.space Discord. Some, including [[Arinnnnnnn]] viewed the artwork as still violating the "No art with clear NSFW intentions or origins" rule, while others viewed the moderator ruling as inconsistent with their past decisions on similar issues.

==Timeline==
===Pre-Arsonist Raid===
On the 4th of August, 2025, [[Arinnnnnnn]] started his raid of the Sabrina Carpenter bee, intending to place a tree design originally made by [[Selio]] for [[The Ember Empire]] over it. He continuously griefed the artwork during active hours. On the same day, [[Universe]], one of the leaders of [[Darkhood]] announced that the faction was assisting with the griefs in a raid operation titled "Murdering Horny Bee Op.". Arinnnnnnn was usually the sole griefer of the Sabrina bee artwork prior to the large-scale raid by [[The Arsonists]], but he received occasional help from members of Darkhood, mainly Universe. Despite repeated attacks, these raids did not cause any lasting damage as he faced fierce resistance from volunteers defending the bee artwork.

Arin's template featured a Minecraft bee above the tree's intended location. Bee defenders copied this design and placed to the right of the Sabrina bee artwork.

===Arsonist Raid===
At around midnight UTC on the 6th of August, 2025, 2 days after [[Arinnnnnnn]] started his raid, [[The Arsonists]] launched a large-scale griefing campaign targeting the Sabrina Carpenter bee art. Their template was a version of Arinnnnnnn's tree design, but with an explosion-like fire where the bee's left eye was. During the raid, they would only place the fire part of the template.

The raid lasted 6-7 hours, setting the bee art back approximately 1,400 pixels at its climax before The Arsonists went offline and the defenders were able to restore the art around an hour after it concluded. During the raid, the bee defenders had the help of [[Chantii]], the top placer of Canvas 92, and the third-place all-time placer.

While the raid was raging on, a new placer named FL attempted to [[Voids|void]] the eyes of the Sabrina bee. They succeeded in voided her left eye but eventually surrendered after being pushed back by both the Arsonists and the bee defenders.<ref name="defendername"/>

During the raid, [[Fisk]] and Onion77 had the [[Brown Pixelstuck]] in-canvas tag equipped, leading the defenders to believe that they were under attack by the faction and causing the [[C92 Bee raids#Brown Pixelstuck unhelpings|Brown Pixelstuck unhelpings]].

===Post-Arsonist Raid===
[[Arinnnnnnn]] was largely absent during the Arsonist raid, waking up only a few hours before the bee art was fully restored and upon returning, resumed griefing the artwork by placing the tree over the bee. Arinnnnnnn received intermittent assistance from [[Universe]] and new placers in placing the tree artwork.

The bee defenders<ref name="defendername"/> placed a second Minecraft bee to the right of the Sabrina bee artwork, using the same design as the previous one, but flipped to face right. They also placed a third Minecraft bee to the right of the artwork that was identical to the first one.

While the third Minecraft bee was being placed, two of the bee defenders began assisting Arinnnnnnn in placing his [[ego]] art, which is part of the [[Neuro-sama's Swarm#Canvas 92|NPom]] collab. They made significant progress on the transgender flag portion of the ego before stopping approximately a day after they started. The unfinished portion of the artwork was later placed by Arinnnnnnn and [[Pannenkoek]].

On the 8th of August, the bee defenders planned to place the tree design used by Arinnnnnnn over the intended location of the Fukae as Gura artwork by the [[Neuro-sama's Swarm#Canvas 92|NPom]] collab, which was outlined but hadn't been placed due to the [[defiddle]] being unfinished. They recieved permission from the Fukae artwork's defiddler, Chirps, but following a statement from the tree artwork's artist, [[Selio]], who said: "The tree and dog are my arts that I provided to arin exclusively for the raid. Do not build them.", Virgu and other bee defenders decided against personally contributing to placing the tree.

Despite these concerns, one of the pro-bee volunteers, Fruity, decided to place the tree artwork at the planned location. Additionally, an artwork of Mephiro's boopling by Wisteria was relocated with the defenders' help, due to an overlap with the tree artwork's template.

On the morning UTC on the 10th of August, the user [[Aspertia]], a bee defender and a previous helper in [[Arinnnnnnn]]'s ego art started a raid against it, replacing the name of the ego and the pixel counter by his own. Few hours later, when the replace was almost finished, the ego's owner noticed and stopped raiding the bee art, seeking to reestablish the original art and ended the raid helped by [[Pannenkoek]].

Once the ego raid was finished and the art was repaired, [[Arinnnnnnn]] stopped placing the tree artwork over the Sabrina bee, putting an end to the 6 day long conflict. On the same day, after the griefs had ceased, the primary bee defenders (pau, Aspertia, Virgu and sad_bun, ordered by pixels placed) formally established a faction called the Beekeepers, created by sad_bun.

====Brown Pixelstuck unhelpings====

After the bee was mostly repaired from the prior Arsonist raid, 4 of the bee defenders<ref name="defendername"/> started replacing pixels on [[Brown Pixelstuck]]'s art that they had placed with azure pixels, imitating the state of the initial canvas. These actions were explained as an effort to retract their prior support for the faction due to members of Brown Pixelstuck, including the leader, Onion77 participating in the Arsonist raid.

6 hours into the "unhelpings" it was clarified that this response stemmed from a misunderstanding, as the bee defenders believed the entire faction was participating in the griefs due to [[Fisk]] and Onion, who participated in the raids, both having the on-site Brown Pixelstuck tag equipped. Virgu offered to help with rebuilding, but Onion declined the offer.

This time would also be when the "unhelpings" peaked, resulting in a loss of approximately 1,800 pixels for Brown Pixelstuck. After this, the griefs went on for one more hour resulting in the bee defenders fully reverting all of the pixels that they had contributed to the faction. 21 hours after the "unhelpings" ceased, Brown Pixelstuck fully restored their artwork.

==Aftermath==
The Sabrina Carpenter bee artwork was not the subject of any further griefing campaigns since the conclusion of the conflict, and it remained fully intact on the final state of [[Canvas 92]].

On the 10th of August, the Beekeepers began placing a lattice of a medium and deep grey checkerboard pattern to the right of their artwork.

On the 13th of August, other placers started assisting in placing the tree artwork, which had been solo placed by Fruity for the past 5 days up to that point. On the 18th of August, they finished placing the tree artwork, 10 days after construction had started.

It all began with the returning pxls.space user Temriel, who after a several month hiatus decided that he was gonna make his own empire, where it was originally called "The Magenta Empire". This was later scrapped, and replaced with "The Purple Empire", which is what we have today.

It started as a small project in the very top of the "bats" head, where it remained a small regional power, only really having it's emperor Temriel as the main placer. This changed however when both [[Rockbatgirl]] and [[iButter]] joined the faction. The Empire quickly expanded, and took it took over smaller surrounding arts that were no longer being worked on. It was also during this that an alliance with the [[Navy Blue Grand Monarchy|NBGM]] was formed. This would prove to be an invaluable alliance later on.

Near the end of the canvas many people came to help both it and another faction finish their undone bg.

==== [[Canvas 52]] ====
It was during this canvas that major expansion was achieved, with an official alliance formed with the H2O Lattice as well. Starting in the top right of the canvas, it slowly but surely expanded to claim massive areas, and faced almost no competition.

Despite the Empire only starting on canvas 51, the sudden growth was stunning. By being so isolated (except for it's ally to the south-west, H2O Lattice) it could expand into very large areas without much resistance. During this time [[Evelyn29]] sort of joined the faction by helping the Empire expand west, officially joining next canvas. She (and later [[E-Aria]]) would later prove to be invaluable on canvas 53. The Empire was originally only going to stay in the north-east of the canvas, but it saw a very large opportunity to expand south into unclaimed land.

Later on, it came into contact with another large pattern, and very soon reached an agreement to settle the border on something favorable for both factions (although the Empire largely lost ground here, but it was deemed favorable by the emperor), so the Empire could focus on expansion west. It was at this time too that E-Aria asked to make a small to medium sized pixel art from the game Candies 'n Curses, which was finished later that same canvas.

=== 2022 ===

==== [[Canvas 53]] ====
Starting in the mid-west, the faction made a medium sized pixel art to begin with, which later lead to major purple expansion around it.

With the addition of E-Aria to the Empire last canvas, it granted the ability for the faction to expand around her art in the southeast. This lead into very major expansion around her art for a very long time.

In the [[Komi-san War]] the Empire intervened to finish the 5 pixel thick outline of E-Aria's megaproject. This was successful at the start, but when a de-fiddled version was created, the Empire lost almost all of its investments into the war. Later, when it was decided that it was to be majorly expanded, the Empire could only sit back and watch, as d2 expanded it.

During the [[Splatoon 2 partition]] drama, TPE was offered a lot of territory, but it took more of a neutral stance during this. The Empire only pushed to the border of the logo, and never actually fought against anyone. This proved to be the right thing to do, as the logo was later redesigned and was spared.

In the bottom right of the canvas the Empire found itself in small, short lived border conflicts with several d2 members, but never d2 itself. It was also in this area that a massive controversy was spawned, where a Trump art threatened to take over a lot of TPE territory in later reveled plans. This sparked [[Trumpurple War|a conflict]] where several pxls users took sides to either defend the art, or defend the Empire. It started with small incursions into TPE territory, which eventually lead to the executive decision of Temriel to stop this once and for all. He was himself aware of the small incursions, but did not intervene. But when it was revealed that [[ImperialGuardism|ImperialGuard]] was recruiting several people of another Discord server, the order was announced. When both sides were basically equal, a deal was signed where it would remain the same it was pre-war, however during the time that both Temriel (+most of the Empire) and ImperialGuard was offline some other pxls users took over almost all of the Trump art, giving it to the Empire.

When there were no more expansion paths in the bottom left, the Empire picked a new location in the top right and expanded very rapidly. Considering it was near the end of the canvas, the Empire gained a lot of external support, and basically doubling the placement speed for the Empire. It was also at this time that an Empire-wide template was finally established and grief reports were added to the Discord server.

==== [[Canvas 54]] ====

With the confusing shape of the canvas, the Empire started it's expansion with a very large template on the left of the canvas, where [[E-Aria]] had a pretty massive template to begin with. This was also the first canvas where [[Big Trans Flags|BTF]] and the Empire collaborated.

Further into the canvas, a border was established between both the Empire and the [[Femboy Café|Femboy Cafe]], and was finished very rapidly due to it getting help from both sides. Not much more happened after this, except a small bit of controversy due to the Russian Z/V flag, this was due to the Z being attributed to supporting Russia in the Russo-Ukrainian war. Thankfully, TPE did not suffer any backlash due to this existing.

When the Empire had taken as much land as possible in this area (not including the territory taken from [[Cell Lattice]], that was later), Temriel decided it was time to, in his words "have some #colonyfun". This meant that he had decided to establish a colony down south next to d2 and the [[League of Factions]], and progress on this colony began shortly after. The colony was at first only really being built by Temriel and Evelyn29, however this changed later as me6, the person with the most placed this canvas, decided to come help. The next day, the colony had expanded way beyond the original scope of what Temriel originally had planned. A day later, a transition border with both [[The Helpers|the Workers]] and [[Orange Gang]] was established.

==== [[Canvas 55]] ====
This canvas TPE started between the middle top and top left next to [[Femboy Volunteers|Femboy Cafe]] and above GSm, and this time the Empire included a discord invite, name and emblem, with the two last being a first. The Empire could sadly not expand to previous levels due to both /r/place coming back and the site due to several DDoS attacks that would occur over several days. This made the placing times way longer than normal (from 20 seconds to around 35) and the downtime of the site made getting in a miracle. Later on however, [[Vanilla]], the site's owner changed the cooldown to 65% of the normal one as compensation for the attacks on it.

When the site had stabilized once again, proper expansion of the Empire's territory could be resumed. No more drama that involved the Empire occurred under the canvases time, except for the continuous onslaught of griefers which Temriel and many other Imperial members had to defend against.

It was also during the latest days of this canvas that the [[Chromatic Empire]] was founded, with TPE serving as a founding member and [[Temriel]] becoming and serving as Lord Chancellor.

During this canvas, TPE got the offer of joining the Fish Collab. Initially it was accepted, but considering her vassal position in the Chromatic Empire, this was eventually turned down. However, the offer was extended to the Chromatic Empire as a whole later on. Though, seeing how much of a mess this would be, they pulled out a few days before reset.

This canvas saw The Purple Empire be directly represented with a background present on canvas, with purple themed arts to fit. Below it, was the mixed core of the Chromatic Empire. The three arts built there all represented each Imperial Subject, with a lattice to match.

TPE's crest was first built on this canvas, with it serving as an [[ego]] for [[Temriel]].

The Empire was represented in ChE's main centre piece art as one of the smaller factions, due to the artists wanting everything to fit nicely together. This would not matter however, as TPE would go on to make one of the largest backgrounds during the canvas, stretching out to over 86k before reset.

TPE participated in the [[First Opcellog]] this canvas, and got a sizeable amount of territory from it.

All [[Chromatic Empire]] colour factions were centered around a single artwork and expanded independently, and TPE was in the top left. This saw the first time the faction did not use a purple only background.

This canvas saw the return of The Purple Empire in full, and it showed TPE's ability to evolve around the current reception of "flat" backgrounds, by making it very detailed.

TPE and Neuro-sama's Swarm collaborated this canvas, taking much of the top half of the canvas. This is by far TPE's largest canvas to date.

Having created the Neuro-sama lattice yet again, transition work was easy. The faction was located by [[Pixelstuck]] and [[Video Game Artists]], with the main art being designed by [[Layla]].

The faction was located in the top right of the canvas, collaborating with [[Darkhood]] and partially [[Kitty Pxls]]. A large "colony" existed in Neuro-sama's Swarm territory.

==== [[Canvas 88]] ====
Once again located by [[Pixelstuck]], this canvas TPE collaborated with [[Gura's Supermarket]], creating an art of [https://needystreameroverload.wiki.gg/wiki/Ame-chan OMGkawaiiAngel-chan] (or KAngel). In an unforeseen coincidence, osu! would also create art of the same character.

As a part of the [[purp13]] collab, the faction made pastel yellow artwork on the right side of the canvas, resembling [[YOIB|YOIB's]] pastel yellow colour on [[Canvas 35]], with Legion in the centre and [[Pink Gang]] (now Neuro-sama's Swarm) on the left. TPE helped Legion in their invasion of the canvas the best they could.

During [[Canvas 92]], the Sabrina Carpenter bee artwork by sad_bun and Virgu became the target of multiple griefing campaigns. The first griefs began on the 4th of August with [[Arinnnnnn]], who attempted to place a tree over the artwork in protest of its perceived NSFW nature. He recieved the support of [[Darkhood]], who called in their members to assist with the griefing. These initial griefs were met with heavy resistance from defenders and ultimately failed to make lasting progress.

2 days after Arinnnnnn began his raids, [[The Arsonists]] launched a larger-scale raid placing fire over the bee. At its peak, this campaign resulted in the loss of approximately 1,400 pixels for the defenders before the raid was repelled and the artwork was restored.

Arinnnnnn and 3 others, including [[Universe]], continued to grief the Sabrina bee artwork by attempting to place the tree artwork over the course of the 3 days after the Arsonist raid while facing significant resistance from the beekeepers, before the conflict concluded with the tree placers ceasing their griefs on the 9th of August.

==Background==
The Sabrina Carpenter bee artwork was originally [https://x.com/thisislux/status/1934717871000559856?t=RK9KWWn8XRXV0FUgsg-AAg&s=19 created by @thisislux on X (Twitter)], based on Sabrina Carpenter's Rolling Stone cover photoshoot, in which she is nude except for a pair of socks. The artwork was initially placed to match the original art, but following a moderator request due to the original art violating the "No nudity" rule, the art was adjusted to give her clothes while removing her socks.

This modification drew a significant amount of criticism from members of the pxls.space Discord. Some, including [[Arinnnnnn]] viewed the artwork as still violating the "No art with clear NSFW intentions or origins" rule, while others viewed the moderator ruling as inconsistent with their past decisions on similar issues.

==Timeline==
===Pre-Arsonist Raid===
On the 4th of August, 2025, [[Arinnnnnn]] started his raid of the Sabrina Carpenter bee, intending to place a tree design originally made by [[Selio]] for [[The Ember Empire]] over it. He continuously griefed the artwork during active hours. On the same day, [[Universe]], one of the leaders of [[Darkhood]] announced that the faction was assisting with the griefs in a raid operation titled "Murdering Horny Bee Op.". Arinnnnnn was usually the sole griefer of the Sabrina bee artwork prior to the large-scale raid by [[The Arsonists]], but he received occasional help from members of Darkhood, mainly Universe. Despite repeated attacks, these raids did not cause any lasting damage as he faced fierce resistance from volunteers defending the bee artwork.

Arin's template featured a Minecraft bee above the tree's intended location. Bee defenders copied this design and placed to the right of the Sabrina bee artwork.

===Arsonist Raid===
At around midnight UTC on the 6th of August, 2025, 2 days after [[Arinnnnnn]] started his raid, [[The Arsonists]] launched a large-scale griefing campaign targeting the Sabrina Carpenter bee art. Their template was a version of Arinnnnnn's tree design, but with an explosion-like fire where the bee's left eye was. During the raid, they would only place the fire part of the template.

The raid lasted 6-7 hours, setting the bee art back approximately 1,400 pixels at its climax before The Arsonists went offline and the defenders were able to restore the art around an hour after it concluded. During the raid, the bee defenders had the help of [[Chantii]], the top placer of Canvas 92, and the third-place all-time placer.

While the raid was raging on, a new placer named FL attempted to [[Voids|void]] the eyes of the Sabrina bee. They succeeded in voided her left eye but eventually surrendered after being pushed back by both the Arsonists and the bee defenders.<ref name="defendername"/>

During the raid, [[Fisk]] and Onion77 had the [[Brown Pixelstuck]] in-canvas tag equipped, leading the defenders to believe that they were under attack by the faction and causing the [[C92 Bee raids#Brown Pixelstuck unhelpings|Brown Pixelstuck unhelpings]].

===Post-Arsonist Raid===
[[Arinnnnnn]] was largely absent during the Arsonist raid, waking up only a few hours before the bee art was fully restored and upon returning, resumed griefing the artwork by placing the tree over the bee. Arinnnnnn received intermittent assistance from [[Universe]] and new placers in placing the tree artwork.

The bee defenders<ref name="defendername"/> placed a second Minecraft bee to the right of the Sabrina bee artwork, using the same design as the previous one, but flipped to face right. They also placed a third Minecraft bee to the right of the artwork that was identical to the first one.

While the third Minecraft bee was being placed, two of the bee defenders began assisting Arinnnnnn in placing his [[ego]] art, which is part of the [[Neuro-sama's Swarm#Canvas 92|NPom]] collab. They made significant progress on the transgender flag portion of the ego before stopping approximately a day after they started. The unfinished portion of the artwork was later placed by Arinnnnnn and [[Pannenkoek]].

On the 8th of August, the bee defenders planned to place the tree design used by Arinnnnnn over the intended location of the Fukae as Gura artwork by the [[Neuro-sama's Swarm#Canvas 92|NPom]] collab, which was outlined but hadn't been placed due to the [[defiddle]] being unfinished. They recieved permission from the Fukae artwork's defiddler, Chirps, but following a statement from the tree artwork's artist, [[Selio]], who said: "The tree and dog are my arts that I provided to arin exclusively for the raid. Do not build them.", Virgu and other bee defenders decided against personally contributing to placing the tree.

Despite these concerns, one of the pro-bee volunteers, Fruity, decided to place the tree artwork at the planned location. Additionally, an artwork of Mephiro's boopling by Wisteria was relocated with the defenders' help, due to an overlap with the tree artwork's template.

On the 9th of August, [[Arinnnnnn]] stopped placing the tree artwork over the Sabrina bee, putting an end to the 5 day long conflict. On the same day, after the griefs had ceased, the primary bee defenders formally established a faction called the Beekeepers, created by sad_bun.

====Brown Pixelstuck unhelpings====

After the bee was mostly repaired from the prior Arsonist raid, 4 of the bee defenders<ref name="defendername"/> started replacing pixels on [[Brown Pixelstuck]]'s art that they had placed with azure pixels, imitating the state of the initial canvas. These actions were explained as an effort to retract their prior support for the faction due to members of Brown Pixelstuck, including the leader, Onion77 participating in the Arsonist raid.

6 hours into the "unhelpings" it was clarified that this response stemmed from a misunderstanding, as the bee defenders believed the entire faction was participating in the griefs due to [[Fisk]] and Onion, who participated in the raids, both having the on-site Brown Pixelstuck tag equipped. Virgu offered to help with rebuilding, but Onion declined the offer.

This time would also be when the "unhelpings" peaked, resulting in a loss of approximately 1,800 pixels for Brown Pixelstuck. After this, the griefs went on for one more hour resulting in the bee defenders fully reverting all of the pixels that they had contributed to the faction. 21 hours after the "unhelpings" ceased, Brown Pixelstuck fully restored their artwork.

==Aftermath==
The Sabrina Carpenter bee artwork was not the subject of any further griefing campaigns since the conclusion of the conflict, and it remained fully intact on the final state of [[Canvas 92]].

On the 10th of August, the Beekeepers began placing a lattice of a medium and deep grey checkerboard pattern to the right of their artwork.

On the 13th of August, other placers started assisting in placing the tree artwork, which had been solo placed by Fruity for the past 5 days up to that point. On the 18th of August, they finished placing the tree artwork, 10 days after construction had started.
